As I mentioned yesterday, one of the standout features of Boys' Life magazine when I was a kid were the comics. The issues I had included an adaptation of "The City of Gold and Lead," the second story in
Samuel Youd's The Tripods series. (Written under the pen name "John Christopher.")
The entire series was serialized from 1981 until 1986, drawn by Frank Bolle. Youd (as Christopher) was credited
but I'm not certain how direct his involvement with this particular adaptation was. I suspect he did little more than approve Bolle's work and it was Bolle who actually paced and scripted the adaptation.
With that said, here are the comic pages of the
"The City of Gold and Lead."
