I'm not surprised that things like this existed. I am a little surprised at how insanely unsubtle it is. But then again, Trump is spewing even more blatantly crude scare tactics and those seem to have convinced a not insisgnificant number of people that immigrants are stealing your jobs and eating your pets. Hate is a powerful motivator.
Is This Tomorrow?

The US government wanted the public to be deathly afraid of Communism in the wake of World War II and a lot of their propoganda from that time is not subtle in its intent. The following piece -- Is This Tomorrow: America Under Communism! -- was published by the Catechetical Guild Educational Society (which I have no doubt was at least partially funded by the government by way of an "educational grant" or some such nonsense) and they go all-in on the over-the-top drama. It pins almost literally every possible
bad thing that can happen in America -- including, apparently, the Dust Bowl from a decade earlier -- on Communism.
Although no credits are offered in the original book, it was reprinted in Catholic Digest later and there it ran with F. Robert Edman and Francis McGrade
creditted with writing duties.
There are no artists creditted in either version, but none other than Charles Schulz claimed to have worked on it alongside several other artists.
