Labor Day became an official U.S. federal holiday in 1894 to celebrate the "labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country." (From Wikipedia.) In the mid-1960s, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen put together a few comic books highlighting the benefits of unions and union workers.
