Everything I Hate About Representations Of Women In Comics In One Easy ImageDavid Pepose wanted to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the character She-Hulk, but notes that her possible death in the new issue isn't an auspicious sign.
Pepose is concerned about the future of the character, but looking at the image, all I can see are two distinct visual roles for women in comics: one is a sexy red girl, the other is a sexy dead girl. That's why the Hulk looks huge, muscular and mean, while She-Hulk looks like a centerfold. And I still can't figure out why most other superheroes get to have a death scenes that showcase their dignity and the somberness of their death but the most prominent feature in the panel above are the women's chests.
Makes me want to holler and throw up both my hands.
Or go bury myself in manga.

Well, I would personally dismiss any notions about She-Hulk's "possible death," I mean, come on.
Beyond that, most of these issues have been (and will probably continue to be) re-hashed without end; there are endless arguments and counterarguments one can offer and all of them have been offered many times already.
I do think the green... I-don't-want-to-know... leaking out of She-Hulk's mouth does seem a bit unnecessary. Then again, I think the big death scene in the new "Seige" issue looks a bit unnecessary.
What do I know? :-)
I'm acquaintances with the guy who drew this...I bet he'll get a kick out of it. Thanks for pointing it out!

Why are they so dishonest about such things. They mean to use pressure to have everything suit their own taste but do they even consider that they are not the target audience? I seriously doubt theres a huge untapped market for women and comics. Its like how they pushed for the WNBA and other female professional leagues, but when it came down to it, women just didn't turn up to watch or support those teams!!
