Comic Cost Per Minute

Aaron Albert sat down to calculate how much it costs per minute to be entertained by a comic, movie or video game. While perhaps not the most scientific survey, his back-of-the-envelope math still brings up some interesting points worthy of discussion.

What struck me, just recently, is the low cost of good back issues, newer and older alike, compared with a new $4 comic.

You don't even need to dig in the quarter bins; even back issues at $2.50 or $3 each (let alone any kind of sale price discount) seem remarkably cheap compared with $4 for a new book.

Is it just me or is this kind of a unique dynamic? I don't recall back issues being proportionately so cheap back when comics were, say, $1 or $1.25.
